ZAGREB MAYOR ATTENDS CONGRESS OF UNITED CITIES AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS

ZAGREB, May 3 (Hina) - Zagreb mayor Vlasta Pavic is attending a congress to unite the International Union of Local Authorities and the World Federation of United Cities into a new organisation called the United Cities and Local Governments, which is taking place in Paris from 2 to 5 May.#L# The project to unite the two organisations was launched in January 2004, when the existing organisations of local self-government units - the International Union of Local Authorities and the World Federation of United Cities and Metropolis merged into a single organisation. The new organisation, based in Barcelona, is the largest organisation of cities and local governments in the world with members in more than 100 countries. It protects the interests of all forms of local administration on the global level and solves issues of vital importance for the future of cities and their residents. (Hina) rml
