ZAGREB, April 20 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Tuesday received a delegation of the Brazil-Croatia Interparliamentary Friendship Group of the Brazilian Federal Congress and representatives of the Brazilian government,
the Office of the President said in a statement.

received a delegation of the Brazil-Croatia Interparliamentary
Friendship Group of the Brazilian Federal Congress and representatives

The Brazilian delegation said that their country attached special
importance to establishing closer relations with Croatia in view of
its geographic position, which could facilitate Brazil's access to
Central Europe and the European Union.
This is the first visit of an official Brazilian delegation to Croatia
and marks the start of cooperation in the areas of politics, economy
and culture, the statement said.
The Brazilian delegation is due to visit all major Croatian economic
and political institutions, and the signing of several agreements has
been announced.
In conclusion of the talks, Mesic extended an invitation to Brazilian
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to visit Croatia.
