SARAJEVO, April 15 (Hina) - Municipal elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina will be held on October 2, the president of the Election Commission of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lidija Korac, and commission member Vehid Sehic said on Thursday.#L# The formal announcement of the election date is expected later in the day, but Korac and Sehic confirmed to the Sarajevo media in separate statements that the elections would be held on the first Saturday in October. Under the existing election law, the election date must be made known 170 days before elections at the latest. On October 2, the voters will elect new municipal councils in 141 municipalities and the parliament of Brcko District. Heads of municipalities and Banja Luka mayor, previously appointed by municipal councils, will be elected directly for the first time. They are elected for a term of four years and can be revoked only at a referendum. (Hina) rml
