BRANKO CRVENKOVSKI ELECTED PRESIDENT OF MACEDONIA

SKOPJE, April 29 (Hina) - Macedonia's Prime Minister and Social Democratic Alliance leader Branko Crvenkovski won a runoff presidential election on Wednesday, polling 62.66 per cent of the votes. His rival, VMRO-DPMNE candidate Sasko Kedev, won 37.34 per cent, according to initial results released by the Central Electoral Commission early Thursday morning.
SKOPJE, April 29 (Hina) - Macedonia's Prime Minister and Social Democratic Alliance leader Branko Crvenkovski won a runoff presidential election on Wednesday, polling 62.66 per cent of the votes. His rival, VMRO-DPMNE candidate Sasko Kedev, won 37.34 per cent, according to initial results released by the Central Electoral Commission early Thursday morning.#L# Voter turnout was 53.39 per cent, just above the minimum 50 per cent required for an election to be valid. News agencies reported that the results were released after 99 per cent of the ballots had been counted.
