INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION FOR THE BALKANS SET UP

BRUSSELS, April 16 (Hina) - The International Commission for the Balkans held its first meeting in Brussels on Thursday at the initiative and with the support of the German Robert Bosch Foundation, the Belgian King Baudouin Foundation and the U.S. German Marshall and Charles Stewart Mott foundations, the King Baudouin Foundation said in a statement on Friday.
BRUSSELS, April 16 (Hina) - The International Commission for the Balkans held its first meeting in Brussels on Thursday at the initiative and with the support of the German Robert Bosch Foundation, the Belgian King Baudouin Foundation and the U.S. German Marshall and Charles Stewart Mott foundations, the King Baudouin Foundation said in a statement on Friday.#L# The Commission is comprised of the prime ministers of Sweden, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania, Carl Bildt, Jean-Luc Dehaene, Zlatko Lagumd`ija, and Ilir Meta respectively, Romanian Foreign Minister Mirce Geian and former minister of Serbia and Montenegro Goran Svilanovic, as well as the future European Union commissioner from Slovenia, Janez Potocnik, the statement said. The aim of the Commission is to develop a vision for the integration of southeastern European countries with the EU and other international associations by stressing the progress made so far and giving recommendations to governments in the region and the international community on how to act in the future, the statement said.
