WASHINGTON, March 27 (Hina) - The United State insists that Radovan Karadzic, Ratko Mladic and Ante Gotovina be tried before the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague despite the set deadlines for the completion of the tribunal's work, State Department spokesman Richard Boucher has said.#L# The UN Security Council on Friday adopted Resolution 1534 confirming the importance of fully implementing a strategy for the completion of work of the UN war crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the tribunal for war crimes in Rwanda by 2010, and called on Balkan countries to step up cooperation with the ICTY to bring to justice runaway indictees Radovan Karadzic, Ratko Mladic and Ante Gotovina. Commenting on the resolution on Friday evening, Boucher said his country wanted to confirm its strong commitment to have Karadzic, Mladic and Gotovina tried before the ICTY regardless of the set deadlines for the tribunal's exit strategy and called on Balkan countries to fulfil their obligations towards the Hague tribunal.
