"During the talks with Israeli President Moshe Katsav, it was
reiterated that both countries would like to strengthen the relations,
particularly economic one," Zuzul said.
Zuzul and the Israeli president talked about concrete investments in
agriculture and other sectors.
"We have been given firm assurances that Israel is ready for a new
stage in relations with Croatia and this is our attitude, too," Zuzul
said.
On Monday, Zuzul held meetings with his Israeli counterpart Sylvan
Shalom and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. After the talks, the officials
of the two countries pointed out good political bilateral relations
and the necessity to improve economic ties. In 2003, the trade between
Israel and Croatia totalled merely 15 million dollars. Israel has so
far invested several billion dollars in some transition countries such
as Hungary and Poland.
The officials of Israel and Croatia announced the continuation of
political dialogue. This year, Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and
Sabor President Vladimir Seks are expected to pay official visits to
Israel, too.
