The head of the League, Samuel Schlesinger, said that relations
between Croatia and Israel were developing well, as could be seen by
the large number of Israeli tourists visiting Croatia, the Justice
Ministry said in a statement.
League representatives were interested in resolving the issues of
arranging the Jewish section of the Mirogoj Cemetery in Zagreb and
compensation for the confiscated property of Israeli citizens, and in
creating favourable legal conditions for business investment.
Skare-Ozbolt said that the issue of property compensation was
regulated by the law on compensation for property confiscated during
Yugoslav communist rule and that the issue would be finally settled
through a bilateral agreement between Israel and Croatia.
As part of measures aimed at removing obstacles to foreign investment,
the Justice Ministry will step up the process of putting land books in
order, the statement said.
