ZAGREB, March 12 (Hina) - Croatia's President Stjepan Mesic and Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Friday received a letter from Franjo Turek asking to be relieved of his duty as the head of the Croatian Counter-Intelligence Agency (POA)
for personal reasons.

asking to be relieved of his duty as the head of the Croatian
Counter-Intelligence Agency (POA) for personal reasons.#L#
Mesic and Sanader accepted Turek's request and said that the POA had
reached high standards while he had been on its helm, reads a press
release issued by the Office of the President.
In compliance with the law on security services, the President and the
Premier made a decision to relieve Turek of duty as the head of the
Counter-Intelligence Agency with the date of 15 March 2004, the press
release said.
