Thursday the Law on the Execution of the National Budget as well as
amendments submitted to it by the government.#L#
The law envisages budgetary reserves amounting to 318 million kuna
which will be used, among other things, to pay for the restitution of
property abandoned by the Esuli, Italians who fled Croatia after
WWII.
The law also envisages the refund of VAT for the purchase of
fire-fighting equipment as well as equipment for science and research
projects.
With the government's consent, Finance Minister Ivan Suker will be
able to delay the collection of taxes and contributions, i.e. enable
the collection in instalments, despite the vehement objection from the
opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP). Ingrid Anticevic-Marinovic
of the SDP said "politics are encroaching upon the economy once
again".
Parliament adopted budgets for the pension, health insurance and
employment agencies, state funds, roads and highways.
