ZAGREB, Feb 26 (Hina) - After a two-day debate, the Croatian
parliament's Conflict of Interest Commission on Wednesday adopted its
rules of procedure as a basis for drawing up forms to be used by
citizens wishing to report cases of conflict of interest, commission
chairman Antun Kapraljevic said on Thursday.#L#
The forms will be published on the parliament's web site and in the
Official Gazette and citizens will be able to report cases of conflict
of interest anonymously.
Citizens will use the forms to report cases of conflict of interest
among incumbent officials, and if they suspect some former official of
conflict of interest, they have four more months to report it,
Kapraljevic added.
The Law on the Prevention of Conflict of Interest stipulates that
investigations into possible cases of conflict of interest can be
conducted six months at the latest after an official suspected of such
conduct leaves his/her position.
The official who is found to be or to have been in a situation that
constitutes conflict of interest is obliged to resign from office.
