PARLIAMENT ON AMENDMENTS TO LAW ON PREVENTING CONFLICT OF INTEREST

ZAGREB, Feb 26 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament resumed its fourth session on Thursday morning with a joint debate on three bills of amendments to the law on the prevention of conflict of interest in performing public duties. The bills were moved by the government, the Croatian Party of Rights and the club of deputies of the Croatian Peasant Party/ the Primorje-Gorski Kotar Alliance and the Libra Party.
ZAGREB, Feb 26 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament resumed its fourth session on Thursday morning with a joint debate on three bills of amendments to the law on the prevention of conflict of interest in performing public duties. The bills were moved by the government, the Croatian Party of Rights and the club of deputies of the Croatian Peasant Party/ the Primorje-Gorski Kotar Alliance and the Libra Party.#L# All amendments foresee the cancellation of the legal limit under which only state officials with 25 percent or more stocks or an ownership share in companies must report their ownership. All officials who own stocks or have an ownership share in state-owned and mostly state-owned companies must report it to the Commission, regardless of have many stocks they have. Also envisaged was the expansion of the circle of state officials who can have conflict of interest. Under the amendments, the circle would include county prefects, deputy prefects, mayors and their deputies and heads of municipalities. The government moves for increasing fines for officials who fail to hand it their declarations of assets from the current 1,000 kuna to between 3,000 and 5,000 kuna. (Hina) it sB
