Kalmeta said this in response to a question by Danira Bilic of the
Croatian Democratic Union, who wanted to know whether the government
would restrict the sale of Croatian territory, referring to the
current sale of isles.
The minister said that it would not be possible to sell entire isles,
because they were part of the maritime domain owned by the state.
PM Ivo Sanader added that the sale of islands was out of the question
and that the government would find the best possible solution in line
with European regulations and make it possible for foreign nationals
to buy real estate in Croatia, but not land, for which only
concessions would be issued.
Kalmeta reiterated that the remaining 5,000 war-damaged houses and
flats would be repaired by mid-2005.
