EUROPEAN MEDIA EXPERTS TO ADVISE CROATIANS ON MEDIA LEGISLATION

ZAGREB, Feb 24 (Hina) - A group of European media experts this week will meet Croatian government officials, representatives of the legislative branch and members of the civil society so as to provide them with advice on the principles of adjusting the media legislation to European standards, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation (OSCE) Mission in Croatia said in a statement on Tuesday.
ZAGREB, Feb 24 (Hina) - A group of European media experts this week will meet Croatian government officials, representatives of the legislative branch and members of the civil society so as to provide them with advice on the principles of adjusting the media legislation to European standards, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation (OSCE) Mission in Croatia said in a statement on Tuesday.#L# The meeting, which will be held at the request of the Croatian government, is organised by the Council of Europe, the European Commission and the OSCE. The meeting is aimed at assessing the Law on Croatian Radio Television, the Law on Electronic Media and a Penal Code provision which refers to Slander, which the government said it would amend, the statement said. The expert commission will comprise the vice president of the Council of Europe's Mass Media Steering Committee, Karol Jakubowitz, the head of the Electronic Media Council in Slovenia, Sandra Basic Hrvatin and British Lawyer Gavin Millar.
