ZAGREB ARCHBISHOP TALKS WITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

ZAGREB, Feb 12 (Hina) - The Primate of the Catholic Church in Croatia and the Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, visited the Seventh High School in Zagreb on Thursday, calling on its students to lead a happy life which will make them "optimistic about our Zagreb and our homeland Croatia once again".#L# Cardinal Bozanic said in a one-hour conversation with the students that God loves them for who they are, and advised them to be critical of the society around them and to always opt for the best solution. The cardinal also spoke against drug abuse, about sexual education in school and commented on the media, saying that the young should think critically and not take everything for granted. He took exception to the fact that some media had not made it possible to understand the position of bishops in a recent debate about sexual education and contraception. Speaking about paedophilia among the clergy, Cardinal Bozanic said the people of the Church were not angels but made of flesh and blood. He added, however, that some cases were well-staged. "Every evil must be depicted equally, but we are not blind to see that there is a lot of propaganda here for other reasons," said the cardinal. Asked about the position of the Church on the Marian shrine in Medjugorje, he said it had not changed since the early 1990s when bishops concluded that there was no proof of the supernatural.
