BLEIBURG, Feb 20 (Hina) - The contemporary Croatia has been established on all values of the contemporary free world, on the foundations of democracy and anti-fascism which must not be identified with Communism which is responsible for the crimes in Bleiburg and the Way of the Cross, Croatia's Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said after laying a wreath at the monument erected in tribute to victims killed in the field of Bleiburg in May 1945.#L# "Croatia, which is also based on the resolve and strength which the Croatian people demonstrated in the Homeland Defence War, condemns every crimes and rejects every extremism and radicalism," Sanader added. "Democracy, peace, tolerance, protection of human and minorities' rights as well as coexistence and the rule of law are the foundations of the future of our European continent which is in the process of uniting. On these foundations Croatia is building its lasting future," he said on Friday. The horrors of the past, such as the Bleiburg tragedy, must not ever again recur, Sanader said. I would like that this act of paying tribute to the victims of one of the biggest Croatian tragedies may contribute to the further strengthening of the commitment of Croatians and all citizens of Croatia to values and prospects of democratic Europe, he added. With the tour to Bleiburg on Friday, Croatian Prime Minister wrapped up his official visit to Austria where he met Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel and attended that traditional Opernball in Vienna.
