ZAGREB, Feb 11 (Hina) - The Rudjer Boskovic Institute on Wednesday got two new devices for cancer research, worth 131,000 kuna. The funds necessary for the purchase of the equipment were raised in the humanitarian action 'Terry Fox
Run', which was held in Zagreb on 13 September. The action, organised by the Canadian Embassy in Zagreb and the Croatian League Against Cancer, helped raise 157,973 kuna. The difference in the amount will be saved until the next humanitarian event of this kind and the purchase of new equipment.

At a news conference on Wednesday, Canadian Ambassador Dennis A.
Snider said that some 13,000 kuna were raised by the first
humanitarian drive of this kind in Croatia, which was held in 2001.
Last year the collected funds increased tenfold. The diplomat thanked
sponsors and voiced hope that 'Terry Fox Run' campaigns would continue
even after the end of his term this summer.
The League's chairman, Dr. Damir Eljuga, said that 25,000 new cancer
patients were registered annually in Croatia and that each year 13,000
Croatians died of this disease.
'Terry Fox Run' actions are organised in 67 countries throughout the
world.
