ZAGREB, Feb 10 (Hina) - The UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague has
extended communication restrictions on former Yugoslav president
Slobodan Milosevic and former Serbian Radical Party leader Vojislav
Seselj for another month, the tribunal said in a press release on
Tuesday.#L#
Milosevic, who is charged with genocide, crimes against humanity and
war crimes, may communicate by telephone from his cell only with his
immediate family, legal counsel, and diplomatic and consular
representatives.
Restrictions were imposed on December 11 last year after
Belgrade-based Radio S made an interview with Milosevic in the UN
detention centre in The Hague and aired it during the election
campaign in Serbia in violation of the tribunal's rules.
Seselj, who is charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity,
was placed under restrictions because he had talked to his political
followers and reporters from his cell in The Hague.
Since "the accused's defiant position is unchanged and continues to be
of concern," his communications were restricted to his legal counsel,
diplomatic or consular representatives and his immediate family, the
press release said, adding that Seselj's contacts with his family
would be subject to monitoring.
The decision to extend communication restrictions takes effect on
February 10.
