BRDO PRI KRANJU, Jan30(Hina) - The prime ministers of Croatia and Slovenia met in Slovenia's Brdo pri Kranju on Friday afternoon after a meeting of the Quadrilateral Initiative.#L# Croatia's Ivo Sanader told reporters he and his Slovene counterpart Anton Rop had talked about open issues -- border demarcation in Savudrija Bay, the ecological and fishing zone in the Adriatic, the debt Ljubljanska Banka owes Croatian depositors, the barracks on St. Gera border area hill, and the Krsko nuclear power plant at Krsko. "Much more connects us and will connect us in the future in united Europe even though we are aware of the open issues," said Sanader, adding that Croatia and Slovenia were two neighbouring and friendly countries. Speaking of the ecological and fishing zone, he said, "Croatia has detected interest for joint cooperation in the Adriatic in Italy and Slovenia. We are interested in arriving at a joint solution". He announced a meeting between the three countries' experts and deputy foreign ministers to find a solution. Slovenia's Rop confirmed he and Sanader had agreed experts would also meet to address the Ljubljanska Banka issue, and called on the Croatian government to ratify the agreement on succession of Socialist Yugoslavia as soon as possible. Rop stressed Croatia and Slovenia enjoyed very developed economic cooperation and shared many views on European integration processes and the situation in the region. Rop invited Sanader to come to Ljubljana tomorrow to watch the European Handball Championships semifinal between Croatia and Slovenia. Sanader said he would attend if his schedule allowed given that a meeting of the national committee of his Croatian Democratic Union party had already been convened for tomorrow. (Hina) ha sb
