LJUBLJANA, Jan 12 (Hina) - The Slovene foreign ministry on Monday
issued a press release denying media speculations that the Holy See
might mediate an agreement on open issues between Slovenia and
Croatia.#L#
Speculations appeared in the Slovene media last week after Slovenia's
Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel visited the Vatican. After his meeting
with the Vatican's secretary in charge of foreign affairs, Giovanni
Lajola, Slovenia's Rupel said the Holy See would like to see good
relations between Croatia and Slovenia because of the regional
stability.
Rupel's spokeswoman, Natasa Prah, said in the press release that it
was incorrect thar Rupel had said in Rome that he did not rule out the
Vatican's initiative aimed at finding a solution to the
Croatian-Slovene dispute. No mention was made of this at Rupel's talks
with the Vatican's official, she added.
