ZAGREB, Jan 27(Hina) - The Croatian Red Cross on Tuesday donated 1.262 million kuna (approx. 250,000 Swiss franks) to the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, which had been raised for the casualties of the
disastrous earthquake that hit the Iranian city of Bam in late December.
ZAGREB, Jan 27(Hina) - The Croatian Red Cross on Tuesday donated 1.262
million kuna (approx. 250,000 Swiss franks) to the International
Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, which had been
raised for the casualties of the disastrous earthquake that hit the
Iranian city of Bam in late December.#L#
The chairman of the Croatian Red Cross, Jadranko Crnic, thanked the
donors and commended the media for their assistance with the
fund-raiser.
Thanking the Croatian Red Cross for the assistance, Iranian Ambassador
Jafar Shamsian said that the quake had killed about 41,000 people and
injured 50,000. Some 90 percent of the city of Bam was devastated, he
added.
