At the start of the talks the Hungarian ambassador congratulated Seks
on his election as the Sabor head. The two interlocutors voiced
confidence that the two neighbouring countries would continue
enhancing cooperation in all sectors, especially in the economy.
Mohai, whose country will enter the European Union this spring, said
Hungary would offer comprehensive assistance to Croatia in order to
enter the EU as soon as possible. In addition to the identical goals
in the foreign policy, an element which also connects the two friendly
countries are their ethnic minorities. In this context Seks said his
country had reached high standards in the protection and promotion of
interests of ethnic Hungarians and other minorities.
He also gladly accepted the invitation of the Hungarian parliament's
president Katalin Szili to attend the 16th meeting of the European
Parliament and heads of other countries covered by the EU enlargement
process. The event takes place in Budapest in early February.
