U.N. TRIBUNAL AGAIN ISSUES WARRANTS FOR ARREST OF 12 BOSNIAN SERBS

THE HAGUE/ZAGREB, Jan 14 (Hina) - The Hague-based U.N. war crimes tribunal has again issued warrants for the arrest and extradition of 12 former members of the army and police of the Bosnian Serb entity, accused of genocide and war crimes in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The difference between earlier and the new warrants is the fact that the latter have been forwarded to all UN member-states.
The difference between earlier and the new warrants is the fact that the latter have been forwarded to all UN member-states.#L# On 10 December 2003 the prosecution of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) asked the tribunal to re-issue arrest warrants for 12 indictees who were on the run. The previous warrants for their arrest were issued together with their indictments but the documents were sent only to a certain country and did not refer to all UN members. The warrants authorise all UN members to search for, apprehend and detain the indictees and transfer them to the ICTY in The Hague. (Hina) ms sb
