The concert was staged on the occasion of the third Antonio Janigro
international competition for cellists, which began tonight, and to
mark 155 years of the death of Slovene poet France Presern, a cultural
holiday in Slovenia celebrated on February 8.
In the audience were Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, Prime Minister
Ivo Sanader, and other senior government and parliament officials, as
well as numerous representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in
Croatia.
