BELGRADE, Dec 22 (Hina) - A special envoy of the EU High
Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Miroslav Laicek,
visited Belgrade on Thursday and held talks with the President of Serbia and
Montenegro, Svetozar Marovic, and Serbian President Boris Tadic whom he
informed of the EU standpoint that the referendum process in Montenegro must be
legitimate and in line with European standards. According to
statements issued by Marovic and Tadic's offices, Javier Solana's envoy
informed them of talks he held in Montenegro on Wednesday. The envoy said he
was optimistic about further dialogue.
The statement issued by Marovic's office said "the President of Serbia
and Montenegro and the EU envoy agreed that unilateral moves and solution could
jeopardise the content of the referendum process.
Tadic told Laicek that the decision on Montenegro's independence
"cannot be made unless a convincing majority votes for it".
