Gotovina was arrested at Tenerife on Wednesday. Degayon briefed him with the indictment under which the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia might sentence him to lifetime imprisonment, the Spanish news agency efe said citing judicial sources.
The reading of the indictment lasted 10 minutes, in the presence of a Croatian Consulate official and a court-appointed attorney.
Gotovina will be transferred to the prison Soto del Real pending extradition to The Hague, which is expected to occur in the next few days.
