The president of the club, Vukovar County Court president Ante Zeljko, recalled the club was established in late 2004 to promote and protect judicial honour and interests, and preserve and strengthen the independence of the judicial authority.
Skare-Ozbolt said the Vukovar County Court was one of the most efficient in Croatia although its judges worked in possibly the worst conditions.
She told the press the judicial reform would be completed by 2007 and voiced firm confidence that Croatia would join the European Union in 2009.
Before attending the opening of the Vukovar Judges Club, Supreme Court president Branko Hrvatin visited nearby Ovcara farm and laid a wreath in memory of the people killed there on 20 November 1991 during the Serb occupation of Vukovar.
