ZAGREB, Nov 26 (Hina) - An international symposium called "Ivo Andric, 30 Years After...", organised by the Croatian Cultural Society Napredak started in Zagreb on Saturday.

The event pooled literature experts from all parts of Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Hungary, Italy and the Netherlands.

Ivo Andric was born in the village of Dolac, near Travnik, in 1892. He was an author and a diplomat. He died in 1975 in Belgrade.

Andric started his literary career as a poet.

During the Second World War, Andric wrote his three large works, all of which were published in 1945: Na Drini cuprija (The Bridge on the Drina), Travnicka hronika (Bosnian Story), and Gospodjica (The Woman from Sarajevo).

In 1961 "The Bridge on the Drina" won him the Nobel Prize in literature
