Croatia's delegation will be led by Prime Minister Ivo Sanader.
The Euro-Mediterranean Partnership comprises 38 members: 25 EU member states, 4 countries candidates for EU membership (Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania and Turkey) and 9 non-European Mediterranean partners (Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria, and Tunisia ). Libya and Mauretania have observer status.
The Barcelona event will also pool European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, officials of the Council of Europe, the United Nations, the Arab League, the European Investment Bank, OPEC and other organisations.
The three main objectives of the Partnership are the definition of a common area of peace and stability through the reinforcement of political and security dialogue, the construction of a zone of shared prosperity through an economic and financial partnership and the gradual establishment of a free-trade area, and the rapprochement between peoples through a social, cultural and human partnership aimed at encouraging understanding between cultures and exchanges between civil societies
