Member Tin Gazivoda told reporters after the Council session had Turek had attended, but said that in accordance with a parliamentary decision, Council members were not allowed to comment on their work. This can be done only by the parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs and National Security.
The press speculated that Turek answered questions in connection with allegations of the tapping of phones of politicians, religious dignitaries and athletes during the former coalition government when he served as POA chief.
The allegations were first made by MP Slaven Letica, who told the press last month POA had been interested in him as well as in incumbent Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks, who at that time were in the opposition.
