ZAGREB, Nov 19 (Hina) - Shops in Croatia will be banned from
working on Sunday without major exceptions, the economy minister's assistant in
charge of drawing up a new trade law, Ema Culi, was quoted by Jutarnji List as
saying on Saturday. "Sunday will basically be a non-working day,
this is the Croatian government's position," she said.
Under the new trade law, only shops which sell specific goods or are
important for preserving cultural tradition will be open, such as newsagents,
petrol stations, florists or shops selling candles.
Culi said the government was not preparing a law on working hours or a
law banning work on Sunday but a new trade law, which would regulate shops'
working hours.
