ZAGREB, Nov 9 (Hina) - With EUR2.5 billion in investments, Austria
is Croatia's number one partner according to the amount of foreign investments
and some 700,000 Austrians chose Croatia each year as their vacation
destination, Austrian Economy and Labour Minister Martin Bartenstein said at
Wednesday's talks with Croatian Minister of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and
Development, Bozidar Kalmeta. Kalmeta spoke about the continuation
of the privatisation process in some 20 hotels partially owned by the state,
and possible investments in continental tourism, Kalmeta's ministry said in a
statement.
Bartenstein congratulated Kalmeta on efforts Croatia was investing into
an accelerated building of highways.
Before the meeting with the Croatian minister, Bartenstein took part in
an Austrian-Croatian symposium on environmental protection and alternative
energies where he said that Austria was increasingly interested in investing in
the Croatian industry and is notably interested in greenfield investments.
