ZAGREB/THE HAGUE, Nov 15 (Hina) - Former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic on Tuesday asked for a six-week break in his trial at the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague, citing health reasons.

Milosevic, who did not appear in the courtroom last week due to ill health, told judges that he had been examined on 4 November by three specialists, who recommended that he rest for six weeks because his condition had not stabilised.

"The patient's condition has not stabilised and complications are possible. A period of rest from physical and intellectual activities, lasting at least six weeks, should be given in order for his condition to stabilise," the accused read the opinion of three specialists -- a cardiologist, an angiologist and an otolaryngologist.

Presiding Judge Patrick Robinson asked for the medical report to be made available to the Trial Chamber so that it could decide on the request.

Milosevic suffers from left ventricular hypertrophy and high blood pressure, as a result of which his trial has been interrupted more than 15 times.
