ZAGREB, Nov 14 (Hina) - The editor and anchorman of the Croatian Television (HTV) talk show "Sunday at Two", Aleksandar Stankovic, will have his November salary cut by 30 per cent because in yesterday's show he openly supported his recently replaced colleague Tihomir Ladisic.

A decision to that effect was made on Monday by HTV News Programmes editor-in-chief Vladimir Roncevic in accordance with the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT) rules on salaries.

"I made the decision because Stankovic abused his position as editor and anchorman and monopolised the screen," Roncevic told Hina.

Late last week heads of the HTV Programmes Department decided to fire Ladisic from the late night talk show "Otvoreno", which he edited and conducted. A HRT spokesman said Ladisic had made frequent omissions, notably in shows about the extradition of Croatian business tycoon Hrvoje Petrac and Bosnian Croat Ivica Rajic's plea agreement with the Hague war crimes tribunal.

Under HRT rules, the 30 per cent salary cut is the maximum fine which an editor-in-chief may impose.

Stankovic said Roncevic was entitled to make such a decision as editor-in-chief and stressed that he would not lodge a complaint.
