The project was launched by the planetarium of the French city of Nantes and the visit to Croatia, which is taking place from 17 October to 13 November, was organised by the Croatian Physics Society, the French Embassy and the French Institute in Zagreb.
The tour covers the cities of Bjelovar, Osijek and Koprivnica.
The main attraction of the project is the mobile planetarium, where visitors can see, under the expert guidance of French astronomers, what night skies look like in different parts of the year and from different locations on Earth.
Along with the planetarium, visitors can see a number of exhibitions about the universe, the Sun, the history of astronomy, the planet Mars and old astronomy devices.
The visit of the French astronomers is one in a series of events held in Croatia and other countries in the world to mark the year 2005 as the World Year of Physics. This year the world marks the 100th anniversary of Albert Einstein's three legendary papers with revolutionary discoveries about the existence of atoms, the nature of light, the connection between time and space, and energy and mass.
