ZAGREB, Oct 8 (Hina) - The European Union wants to start entry
negotiations with Croatia without delay and their pace depends on the speed at
which Croatia will adopt and carry out reforms, European Enlargement
Commissioner Olli Rehn said at a meeting with Croatian President Stjepan Mesic
in Zagreb on Saturday. Rehn underlined the importance of cooperation
with the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague and the continuation of the
refugee return and reconciliation processes, Mesic's office said in a press
release.
Speaking of the entry negotiations with the EU, which were launched
earlier this week, Rehn said it was estimated that the results of the
negotiations would be successful for both the Union and Croatia as well as the
entire region.
Rehn underlined that Croatia played an important role in the region and
that he counted on this being the case in the future as well.
