Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said at a Tehran conference entitled "A World without Zionism" on Wednesday that "Israel should be wiped off the map."
"Such views are opposed to the United Nations Charter, general rules of international law and international standards, and do not contribute to the settlement of current disputes between Iran and the international community," the Croatian ministry said in a statement.
"The Republic of Croatia deems that such views do not contribute to the present state of the Middle East peace process," the statement added.
The Office of the Croatian President has also responded to the Iranian president's statement, describing it as "completely unacceptable".
"Under no excuse should anyone call for the destrucution of a sovereign member of the United Nations," a source close to the Croatian president told Hina on Thursday.
