The money will be used to demine 108,000 square metres of farmland and 5,000 square metres near a children's play park.
Demining is being carried out by the Ares company from Sisak and is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
The ambassador commended the courage of the staff working on demining and expressed satisfaction with the course of the works.
Croatian Mine Action Centre (HCR) president Otto Jungwirth said France had invested about 800,000 euros in six demining projects in Croatia since 1998.
Prefect Bozo Galic thanked the French government on the funds invested in demining in Vukovar-Srijem County.
He said that 35 people were killed by mines in the county since 1998.
The HCR estimates there are more than 44,000 mines on 107 square kilometres in the county.
