ZAGREB/LJUBLJANA/KAPOSVAR, Oct 8 (Hina) - The interior ministers of Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary on Saturday signed a joint statement on measures against organised crime and illegal migrations.

The statement was signed in Kaposvar, southwestern Hungary, at the end of a two day meeting of Ivica Kirin of Croatia, Dragutin Mate of Slovenia and Monika Lamperth of Hungary.

The statement adjusts border control regimes with European Union demands, the Croatian Interior Ministry said in a press release.

The three ministers announced the opening in the near future of a centre on the Croatian-Hungarian-Slovene border for the exchange of data on illegal migrations and transborder crime. Italy, Austria and Slovenia set up such a centre last year.

The ministers also discussed the idea of allowing the Hungarian police to come to the Croatian coast during the summer tourist season in view of a swifter exchange data on criminals. Such cooperation between the Hungarian and German police forces has proven effective, it was said.

The ministers instructed their chiefs of police to draft agreements so that Hungarian police could be expected along the Croatian Adriatic as early as next summer, the head of the Croatian interior minister's cabinet, Drazen Krtanjek, told Hina.

He said the Kaposvar meeting was important in the diplomatic sense as well because it was Croatia's first trilateral meeting after its EU entry negotiations were opened earlier this week.

Slovene Minister Mate told Slovene Radio after the meeting that Slovenia and Hungary were willing to help Croatia with their experience in the establishment of the Schengen border.
