The government has invested more than 80,000 euros in the reconstruction and equipment of the college, which will offer three-year courses in commerce, administration and physiotherapy. One hundred and ninety-six students have enrolled in the first year.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, Science, Education and Sport Minister Dragan Primorac, heads of universities, and local authorities.
"The college will be a place where the future of Vukovar will be shaped," Mayor Tomislav Sota said.
The college is named after Croatian Nobel prize winner Lavoslav Ruzicka, who was born in Vukovar in 1887. He won a Nobel prize in chemistry in 1939.
