ZAGREB, Sept 9 (Hina) - British World War II veterans, who were
stationed on the southern Croatian Adriatic island of Vis as part of a relief
effort for the Partisan movement, have awarded a special diploma to Croatian
President Stjepan Mesic, the Office of the President said in a statement on
Friday. The diploma was issued to mark the 60th anniversary of the
end of World War Two and the values of "comradeship in times of jeopardy for
our peoples", the statement said.
The diploma was presented to presidential adviser Budimir Loncar in Vis
on Thursday at a ceremony in memory of British and Partisan soldiers killed in
the war.
