Speaking to reporters after talks with government and party officials in Pristina, Eide said that his report to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan would be positive provided that all the parties involved made the necessary efforts and took concrete steps to achieve the democratic standards set by the international community.
Eide held talks with Kosovo Assembly chairman Nexhat Daci, minister for local self-government Lutfi Haziri, and the leaders of the ORA party and the Democratic Party, Veton Surroi and Hashim Thaqi respectively.
A positive report by the UN envoy might pave the way for talks on the final status of Kosovo.
