ZAGREB/THE HAGUE, Aug 30 (Hina) - The Appeals Chamber of the
Hague-based International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) on
Tuesday upheld a prison sentence of seven years for retired Yugoslav Navy
admiral Miodrag Jokic for his role in the shelling of the historic Croatian
Adriatic city of Dubrovnik in December 1991. On 18 March 2004 the
ICTY Trial Chamber gave Jokic a single sentence of seven years' imprisonment

The Trial Chamber found Jokic guilty of murder, attacks on civilians
and civilian property, wanton destruction, cruel treatment, destruction of
buildings dedicated to religion, education and art and cultural monuments in
Dubrovnik's historic centre, which is included on the UNESCO world heritage
