The president of the Assembly, Riccardo Illy, told reporters the Assembly supported Bosnia-Herzegovina in its bid to join European integration processes as soon as possible.
Illy particularly stressed the importance of the city's rebuilt mediaeval bridge which he said connected Christianity and Islam.
Participants who addressed the meeting today frequently stressed the importance of building connections between regions with different cultures. A number of participants said Mostar had been chosen to host the event because it was a meeting point of East and West.
The Assembly of European Regions was established 20 years ago and today it gathers some 250 European regions.
