The State Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina sentenced Prce, a former Bosnian Croat official, to five years in prison after Prce plea-bargained with the prosecution in the Hercegovacka Banka case, entering a plea of guilty to get in return a five-year prison sentence. Lozancic recently decided to reduce his sentence to four years in jail.
"In the process of making this decision, the ruling of the State Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina has in no way been questioned," Lozanic wrote to Ashdown.
Lozancic's letter to the international community's High Representative in Sarajevo was sent on Friday and made public on Sunday.
Stating that the decision to pardon the former defence minister of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina was made in compliance with law and legal procedure, the Federation's President described as disparaging and discrediting comments Ashdown's claims that Prce was pardoned by Lozancic since both of them are members of the same political party, namely the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BiH).
