ZAGREB, Aug 26 (Hina) - The Viator&Vektor Zagreb company,
which recently bought the transport unit of the Light Metal Factory from the
southern city of Sibenik, prompting protests from local hauliers, issued a
statement on Friday saying that its business operations in Croatia and other
markets were based on cooperation with local hauliers whom it hired as
sub-contractors and that claims by local hauliers that they would lose their
jobs were incorrect. The privatisation of the Sibenik factory's
transport unit does not pose any threat to the interests of the local community
and hauliers, reads the statement issued following objections made mostly by
small and private hauliers from Sibenik and Split counties who claim that they
will lose their jobs because of the sale of the transport unit to the
Slovene-owned Viator&Vektor company.
The company said that Viator&Vektor Zagreb, a member of the
Viator&Vektor Group, will hire local hauliers not only for the transport of
products of the Sibenik factory, but also for transport jobs sought by the
company's clients in and outside Croatia.
