ZAGREB, Aug 22 (Hina) - The transfer of authority from the
previous head of the Croatian Privatisation Fund (HFP) to his successor will be
performed this week. As soon as the new acting president of the HFP, Grgo
Ivezic, steps into office, the board of directors will hold their first meeting
with him. There will be no discontinuity in the work of the HFP departments,
HFP spokesman Vedran Kukavica said on Monday. In the midst of a
scandal referring to the HFP's deal with the DOM and SB holdings on the
transfer of the shares of the Opatija-based Liburnia Riviera chain of hotels,
the Croatian government last week decided to relieve the then HFP president,
Damir Ostovic, of his duty and appoint Grgo Ivezic acting president.
The government also decided to rescind its approval for the transfer of
the shares that was previously agreed to cover the government's debt towards
the two holding companies. The debt dated back to the period of voucher
privatisation.
Reiterating that there would be no discontinuity in the Fund's business
performance, Kukavica said that all activities regarding invitations for
tenders and other activities were being carried out as usual.
