TROGIR, Aug 7 (Hina) - The third international competition of young tenors wrapped up in the Croatian coastal city of Trogir on Saturday evening with a gala concert of finalists.

The concert featured finalists of this year's competition: Chang Hu, Ivo Gamulin, and Rodrigo Moro, as well as special guests: soprano Valentina Fjacko and bass Boris Martinovic accompanied by the symphony orchestra of the Split-based Croatian National Theatre (HNK) led by maestro Ivo Libpanovic.

They performed arias of Croatian and foreign composers, receiving a standing ovation.

The International Tenors' Competition, which started on 1 August, was held under the auspices of Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry which promotes Croatian culture through this project.

The jury, chaired by the artistic director of the Split-based HNK, Petar Selem, declared Chinese tenor Chang Hu as the winner of this year's event.

The International Tenors Competition is a unique musical event in the world that was first organized in August 2003 in Trogir, an ancient coastal city west of Split. All candidates must be under 35 and they have to choose five arias out of thirty offered. Competitive part is divided into two rounds and the finals, all of which are held in St. Peter's church, one of the acoustic churches situated in the old core of the city.
