The conference, organised by the International Development in Europe Committee of the International Reading Association (IDEC) and the Croatian Reading Association, will last by 3 August.
The event, that is being held under the auspices of Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, has pooled about 400 experts, professors and librarians from 41 countries who will discuss literacy as a multidisciplinary phenomenon at plenary sessions, meetings, workshops, symposiums and round table discussions over the next three days.
