SARAJEVO, Aug 2 (Hina) - The Prosecutor's Office of the InternationalCriminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia has requested referringthe trial of Bosnian Croat Ivica Rajic to the State Court of Bosniaand Herzegovina, the spokesman
of the UN court's Sarajevo office,Mathias Hellman, said on Tuesday.
SARAJEVO, Aug 2 (Hina) - The Prosecutor's Office of the
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia has requested
referring the trial of Bosnian Croat Ivica Rajic to the State Court of Bosnia
and Herzegovina, the spokesman of the UN court's Sarajevo office, Mathias
Hellman, said on Tuesday. He said the request was made on July
28.
Rajic is accused of war crimes committed by the Croatian Defence
Council against Muslims in Vares and Stupni Do in October 1993, including the
murder of a minimum 31 persons.
After he was indicted, Rajic hid in Croatia for years under an alias.
He was arrested in Croatia and is now in the Hague tribunal's detention
unit.
Hellman said the Prosecutor's Office had requested the referral of 14
cases to the Bosnian State Court so far, including against two Bosnian Croats.
Pasko Ljubicic is another indictee expected to be tried in Bosnia.
